Hey ho! so it's been a bit of a while since I wrote in this here blog so I thought I'd give you a recap of the tour from July to August.
It was a pretty good tour. We went to Miami, I saw some friends there, then we kinda made our way up the coast. I got to check out Asheville, NC which was really rad. My mom used to live there so it was kinda cool checking out the hippie digs of that town. We also went to Virginia Beach for a long weekend, which kinda sucked, there was just nothing to do after two days, but luckily that's when the last Harry Potter book came out so I was able to snag that.
Eventually we made it up north where we hung out with my parents for an afternoon. It was really good seeing them and having my mom prepare a lot of awesome food for us. Then we headed into Philly which was rad. We stayed right on Walnut and my buddy Chris came up to hang out with us for the weekend. Me, Chris, & Matt all went to a show which was cool, we got in for free!!!! I think a couple nights later we all went bar hopping and got really drunk which was not so great the next morning.
We left Philly and went up to New York. We got another day off there, then headed up to Boston for the weekend which was great. I got to see my friend Laura Darby and had a lovely breakfast with mimosa's at the Other Side Cafe with her, which is now really swank looking.
Next stop was Ohio. Cleveland was kinda boring, well except for the rock and roll hall of fame. me and matt got in there for free! I also got to see my sister while we were in the area which was nice. Oh yeah, we also saw Ratatouille, which was a good disney movie, i'd say.
At the very end of the tour, we sorta ended up right where we started at in Omaha, NE. Our last event was long, but we got through it. That night Susan, one of the DirecTV people, took us out to eat at the same spot me, matt, & josh went to at the beginning of the tour. Me and Matt also had our 'end of the tour' shot, which we agreed upon having when we had our 'the beginning of the tour' shot.
The next day we dropped Angela off at the airport, Mike rented a car back to Chicago, & Matt and I started our journey back to Atlanta, GA to eventually rest up for another month long trek out on our tour's extension.
On the way back Matt and I got to see his dad's new house, which was awesome and reminded me of Beetlejuice, and his dog Bella.
When we got back to Atlanta, GA IMG showed their many thanks by hooking us up with some nice diggs at The W which was super awesome. They also allowed us to invite someone to fly in for a few days while we were stuck down there inbetween gigs!
This concludes my story telling for now, I'll go on to talk about seeing Emily & the Extension (pics included) next time.
As much as some aspects of this tour really sucked, just based on having to deal with certain attitudes that were insane, I am glad I was exposed to this tour because it helped me realize a few things i personally need to work on when tour managing and some things I've already conquered that others have not.
But most importantly I'm very happy I got to work with Ashley, Matt, and of course MIKE SHANE!!!!
Happy Halloween folks!!!!
